Hi! I'm Dr. Mariana Calleja and this is The Feel Good Life.
Welcome to Don’t Stress It! - an easy, medically-guided stress-busting course.
I will be your teacher and guide through this 8-lesson course. It’s an easy-to-understand, fun and actionable course I created to help you better understand and tackle stress in your daily life.
First, A Quick Intro
I'm Mariana Calleja Ross, writer of this newsletter called The Feel Good Life.
I’m also an MD, born, raised and professionally trained in Costa Rica and Spain.
I’ve been a doctor for over 16 years, specialising in pain management, palliative care and preventive medicine, with vast experience in chronic health issues, its wrecking effects as we age and finding ways to help prevent and shift the focus as early as possible. I've practiced in a variety of countries, learning how every corner of the world has its different ailments - but the most common health issues are the ones that occur everywhere, better known as ‘common complaints’, such as (you guessed it)...Stress.
Why A Course On Stress?
When something’s common, you grow accustomed to it, and it loses its sense of threat.
Did you know that around 36,000 people on average die every year in the United States from the influenza virus, better known as “the flu”?
Common doesn’t mean less dangerous. All ailments should be treated with the respect they deserve.
And there’s one that deserves way more respect than it’s given. It’s the enemy of the overworked house-runner or parent, the employee struggling to make ends meet, and the busy self-employed entrepreneur. Once it’s at work, it strips you of your health, bit by bit, day by day - and you’re barely aware of it at a conscious level. It’s considered an annoyance, a temporary irritation. It's even celebrated as a badge of achievement - a temporary, trivial source of discomfort that shows you're in the fast lane.
In fact, stress is about as far from trivial as it’s possible to get.
It’s a health-wrecker.
It’s a bomb detonated in the middle of your future.
And this course is all about disarming it, carefully and steadily, step by step - starting today.
Structure Of This Course
This course is made up of 8 lessons, each one of them divided in 3 small sections for you to calmly read, learn and take action. It's all made easy for you to understand as you go through.
The lessons in this course are:
When I first launched this course, students would usually take 2 lessons per week, and it worked beautifully for them (feedbacks speak for themselves, read below). And because the content is now segregated in shorter reads, I'm sure you'll find it quite easy to digest and learn from.
I believe it's key as doctors to be able to transmit the full knowledge in the right terms, with lots of empathy for any non-medical person to be able to understand, and above all, to put it into practice. To do this, we must give tools as best as we know.
I want to give you these tools so you can actually use them yourself.
And this course is the first step to help you collect those tools for you to embrace your health journey.
