I am reveling in this material and your captivating presentation—especially the diagrams. I’ve chosen a different approach to MD (Mind Doctor); I recently returned to society after over 5 years as a Buddhist Monk. Reading this while being guided by your enthusiastic voice brought back my interest in the traditional Medical field. I haven’t found a doctor like you yet, so I maintain my optimal health by living a mostly plant-based lifestyle, practicing mindful living, and incorporating breathwork throughout the day. You truly inspire me! I have a new Doctor and NP but I know enough to make their job easy for me 😉. I have excellent health!
Desmond, I'm so honoured! Thank you for sharing your story. It's amazing. I admire you for living such life and growing from it all. I have never lived as a monk but it's something I felt strongly about a while back. I spent a week totally in silence at a Buddhist monk temple in Thailand and my soul just knew it was somehow at home. It's interesting to live and learn through so many experiences.
Thanks for your super encouraging and kind words. I'm pleased that my writing inspired you so much. Definitely my goal to make my readers feel all these feelings, inspiring them to change! The work is just beginning. Thank you so much for being here! And all the best in your return to society. It'd be super interesting to hear about your experience! If you ever feel like a virtual coffee, count me in. :)
Dear Mariana, your explanation is excellent, and the visuals and video make it easier to understand the context. Thank you for your work.
As a psychotherapist, I view the nervous system from a different angle. My latest piece discusses how our differing online behaviors (less inhibited, being unfiltered) may affect therapy. I would love to hear any feedback on what resonated with you and what didn't:
Thank you so much! I'm so glad it reads easily, definitely my intention! :)
I'll have a read of your article, thanks for sharing! I'm sure your angle is super interesting too from psychotherapy. Happy to connect! Thanks for being here. So much good work we can do ahead. 💃
I’ve written this comment basically elsewhere, on my friend Tina’s page who is a philosopher, but I was actually planning to be a neuroscientist—however, it was clear to me as I even just started to delve into the research 20 years ago, that most of the people in the field actually had no idea how anything worked in terms of larger problems of consciousness, basically they couldn’t do anything that wasn’t linear cell biology. I couldn’t see how it related to people, or the minds, or well being, at all. 20 years later, I’ve had confirmation from people in the field that it has barely progressed and people are still doing tons of garbage fMRI studies that don’t really show or illuminate anything behind “we saw some activity here when we had someone do this thing, so maybe that is related to this thing, possibly, based on correlation, but we’re not really sure.”

Bravo. You’ve raised the bar for MDs! 👏🏾😎
Thank you so much! So glad to hear! 💃🚀

I made the right decision.
